Memorial Set For Former Tachi Tribal Leader
LEMOORE, Calif. (KMPH) —
The memorial services for a local Native American tribal leader who died this week have been set, the tribe announced on Friday.
Clarence Atwell Junior died on Thursday after a lengthy battle with leukemia. He was 67.
Atwell was the former leader of the Tachi Yokut tribe of the Santa Rosa Rancheria.
His viewing and rosary will be held Monday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Lemoore.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Saint Peter's.
Atwell will be buried at the Tachi Cemetery in Lemoore.
