Madera County Woman Arrested On Suspicion Of Attempted Murder

A Madera County woman wanted for shooting her male friend was arrested, ending a six-day search, the Madera County Sheriff's office announced on Friday.

Rachel Diane Silva, 29, wanted since April 6 for assault with a firearm was captured by Sheriff's Deputies Friday afternoon at Hensley Lake.

Deputies say they were called to Road 810 in Raymond, Calif. shortly after 10 p.m. for an{} argument between Silva and her 51-year-old male friend. Deputies say the argument ended with Silva pulling a gun out and shooting the male as he tried to run back inside his home.

The 51-year-old man was struck in his rear end and is recovering from his wounds, the sheriff's office said.

Silva fled the scene before deputies arrived.

Deputies were finally led to Silva after they received a tip that the her vehicle was found near Hensley Lake.

Silva was taken into custody and booked into Madera County Department of Corrections on suspicion of attempted murder.

Her bail set at $1 million.
