Jail Sharing Between CA Counties Extended 3 Years

Gov. Jerry Brown has now signed a bill that will let counties continue sharing jail cells.The move will help local jails avoid overcrowding, or releasing inmates early.Brown signed the bill that extends an existing law by three years.This one allows counties to transfer inmates to another county with adequate jail space.The bill Brown signed yesterday lets counties continue the practice until July 1, 2018.The bill also gives counties more time to build additional jail cells.
