Illegal Pot Grow May Be Responsible For Northern California Wildfire

Investigators say a large wildfire that destroyed several buildings in Shasta County, was sparked from a truck being driven by a man linked to an illegal marijuana farm.

A Cal Fire spokesman says 27-year-old Freddie Alexander Smoke III of Sacramento was detained over the weekend.

He was arrested on suspicion of causing a fire and illegally growing marijuana.

Cal Fire officials say right now, 6 square miles of forest land in Shasta County are burned.

Eighteen buildings and several cars have been destroyed and 15 homes are still threatened.

More than 1,700 firefighters are there now to help.

The wildfire had forced many people out of their homes, but now, some are being allowed back.
