Ice Skating Rink Taking Shape On Fulton Mall

Are you ready to do a toe loop, camel spin or axel jump? Ice skating is coming to Downtown Fresno in November. The ultimate winter experience is starting to take shape{}downtown.

The soon to be built ice rink will come to life in the heart of the Fulton Mall. The construction company Special Ice of Livermore, is in charge of the project. Emery Lykins is in charge. "We're certainly excited to be part of any initiative to help rejuvenate an area and bring some life back to a great area that unfortunately has taken a hit like a lot of other areas in the last 10 to 12 years."

Lykins says the first stage of the project is to build a deck. It will require a lot of lumber and hundreds and hundreds of feet of tubing to create the ice. Sara Bosse who owns Fresno Brewing Company believes the ice rink will be a great magnet for downtown. "I think it will be enough that people might consider coming down for just an activity that they would do for their family and people are always looking for stuff to do on the holidays to make it special."

The skating rink is scheduled to open in early November and will operate seven days a week through mid January. Zion Bosse can't wait. "People might actually enjoy ice skating. I mean{}I know it's hard but{}I think people will actually enjoy it."

The downtown ice rink opens November 8th. It will cost ten dollars for adults and eight dollars for children which includes the skate rental.
