Good Samaritan Rescues Boy In Canal Then Bolts
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) —
A good Samaritan Thursday morning saved a boy who fell into a northwest Fresno canal, police said.
But the hero, who has only been identified by the name Miguel, didn't hang around long enough to take a bow.
Police say the 3-year-old boy was walking with his aunt and two dogs along the canal bank when he got too close to the water and fell in.
Laura Haney heard the woman's cries for help. So did Miguel.
"He dove right in, tennis shoes and jeans, T-shirt and all; Got him and started calling for help," Haney said.
The good Samaritan then gave the boy CPR and revived him.
Paramedics took him to the hospital to be checked out. The hero saved the day but didn't stick around to be interviewed.
