Fresno Hosts "First of Its Kind" Japanese Baseball Showcase
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) —
Saturday marked the beginning of what may be a very fruitful relationship for Fresno with international baseball. Approximately 70 invite-only players participated in a showcase for Japanese baseball teams at Chukchansi Park, and will play in games on Sunday. Five Japanese minor league owners and multiple scouts were in attendance with the intention of signing American talent.
The event was put on by former big leaguer Darrell Evans and Jason Rutherford of Rutherford Sports Agency.
