Fresno County Offers Flu Shots

Health experts say this year the flu vaccine protects against completely new strains of the virus and it's the first time that all 3 strains have changed from the previous year.

Since last year's flu shot will not protect you against this years influenza you must get a new vaccine, according to the Department of Public Health Immunization Program.

Starting Monday, October 13th, Fresno County is offering vaccines for just $4, until December.

For the first time this year, the flu shot is recommended for all kids, from 6 months up to the age of 18 to keep them healthy this season, according to health officials.

Others at high risk for contracting the flu are pregnant women, the elderly and those with comprised immune systems.

Starting Monday, you can go to the Reedley Senior Center at 100 N. East Avenue in Reedley, or the Senior Citizen's Village at 1917 S. Chestnut Avenue in Fresno, or the Kerman Community Center at 15100 W. Kearney Blvd. in Kerman.
