Marines To Protest At Mexican Consulate In Fresno

Former Marines from Fresno are ready to protest at the Mexican Consulate in Fresno.{} They're upset that U.S. Marine Andrew Tahmooressi has spent more than 100 days in a Mexican jail.{}

The protest is scheduled for Tuesday July 22nd at the Mexican Consulate on the 7400 block of North Ingram in Northwest Fresno.{} Sgt. Tahmooressi was arrested on March 31st after crossing the Mexican border with 3 guns in his pickup truck.{}

Don Soper of Fresno is a former Marine helicopter pilot.{} "We Marines and we Veterans are fed up with this situation.{} There is absolutely no excuse for and I'm gonna borderline that our government refuses to do anything."

Cliff Mayer, a former infantryman in Vietnam says Marines live by the creed, "No man left behind."{} "Hopefully they can convey the feeling of the citizens of this country to their own government and see if we can get some proactive results on getting that man released."

Sgt. Tahmooressi who has two tours in Afghanistan claims he got lost and crossed into Mexico by accident.{} Soper and Mayer say the White House has done nothing to win Sgt. Tahmooressi's release.{} They're hoping their protest will make the government take notice and start negotiating.
