Former FCC Ram Will Play Baseball in Japan
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) —
After playing winter league ball in Japan, Hanford native Zak Colby will return with a minor league contract. The former FCC Ram and Reedley Tiger was in Fresno this weekend to help out at the Japanese baseball showcase at Chukchansi Park, answering questions about playing in Japan.
Colby is half Japanese, and his grandfather, who he lists as an inspiration, was born in Kobe. The San Joaquin Memorial high grad was actually out of the game for several years in between playing at Reedley and FCC, but says playing professional baseball was a lifelong dream, and he could not be happier that he decided to come back to the sport.
Colby was also an NAIA All-American catcher for Faulkner University in Alabama, and won a world series there.
