Eight-Year-Old Girl Hikes Miles Through Mountains to Get Help For Grandmother
An Oakhurst woman is in a hospital recovering, after what could have been a tragedy.
She survived, thanks to her granddaughter who hiked for miles.
The 8-year-old girl wandered into Sugar Pine Camp Saturday.
She told staffers she thought her grandmother had died.
She told Madera County Sheriff's Deputies the two had left Oakhurst on Thursday night by horseback, to go camping near Big Sandy.
Search and rescue teams fanned out and found the woman.
They say she was alert and responsive.
We don't know her condition at this hour.
