DeRuyter Responds To Job Rumors
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) —
It took Tim DeRuyter one season as Fresno State's head coach to turn around the Bulldogs' football program.
One year after posting a record of 4-9, Fresno State is 9-3 with a share of its first Conference Championship since 1999.
That success has spawned rumors other schools now may be interested in hiring DeRuyter.
On Monday, DeRuyter said he has not been contacted by any other school, and he cannot stop the rumors. He added his name was not mentioned for the Fresno State job before he was hired a year ago.
DeRuyter has also given indications he is looking forward to the possibility the 2013 season could be among the best in Fresno State history, with the return of record breaking quarterback Derek Carr and most of his pass receivers.
The focus now is on assembling his next class of recruits, while preparing his team for one more game this season, either in the Las Vegas Bowl or the Hawaii Bowl.
