Crooks Hit Costco, Wal-Mart, and Sam's, Steal Thousands In Goods

{}Fresno police take down a crew of accused commercial burglars.Officers say they targeted stores like Costco, Wal-mart and Sam's club up and down the state of California.Police say the crooks would work as a team. While one stood outside, others would go inside, find an office chair box, and empty it, and then fill it up with electronics.After the box was filled with computers, speakers, and small televisions, one of crew members would then take the box up to the cash register, pay for it, and leave with thousands of dollars worth of stolen items.Police say sometimes the crooks would used office chair boxes. Other times baby seat boxes were used in the heists.Fresno police arrested 29-year-old Blake Marki and 24-year-old Janell McReno, both from fresno.Officers say McReno has also been tied to identity theft and passing fraudulent checks.However, police are still searching for two others, 30-year-old Steven Lanas along with the man officers say is the mastermind, 27-year-old Brian Cruz.Police say both are living in Fresno.Police say Cruz is a career criminal, who has also involved in transporting drugs and organized crime.Fresno Police Sgt. Tim Tietjen says, "We know so much about him and this is just one small portion of what he does. He's organizing this crew and he's training other crew members on how to come in and victimize these stores.Police say the crew used a dark BMW possibly a 300 series during the burglaries.Detectives are now advising stores to double check boxes, including the weight of each box before it leaves the store.Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Cruz and Lanas is asked to call Fresno Police, (559) 621-7000.
