Clovis Neighborhood Draws Crowds With Impressive Decorations
CLOVIS, Calif. (KMPH) —
A northwest Clovis neighborhood is giving "Christmas Tree Lane" in Fresno a run for its money.
"Cindy Lane" stretches out over four blocks near Peach and Alluvial Avenues.
Homes are decked out with twinkling lights, decorations and even singing Santas.
"We love doing it for the kids. We have grandchildren but they don't live around here," said Jere McCoy who has been decorating his home for the last 12-years.
For some neighbors it's a sweet idea, but with a big price tag.
The Swiridoff family says they help pay for the pricey production by selling homemade cookies and hot chocolate.
"We use the money that we earn out here to buy the stuff so that we don't have to use my dad's money. All the money we get we, we use to put back into this," said Cassandra Swiridoff.
A few blocks down, Kimberly Chappell raises extra holiday bucks by snapping pictures of kids on her front lawn.
Chappell has an impressive Santa sleigh, complete with reindeers and lights.
Chappell makes five dollars for each photo, but says it's more about helping families make memories.
"I had a gentleman the other night come with his two year old grandson, and the child gave the most beautiful smile. The grandpa walked off saying this is the best gift ever and so its stuff like that ... just making the memories and enjoying this time out here. It's really a winter wonderland," said Chappell.
Nearly hundreds of families came out Monday night to check out all the Holiday decor.
Neighbors say "Cindy Lane" is a tradition that's began more than fifteen years ago.
