Carr To Drive Fresno State In The Fast Lane

Tim DeRuyter is making big changes to the Fresno State football team in his first year as head coach.

The Bulldogs will run a no-huddle spread offense, and they want to play fast. So fast that opposing defense will not be able to keep pace.

Junior quarterback Derek Carr, who says he knows the new offense as well as he knew the old one under former head coach Pat Hill,{}will be running the show.

Carr says the object is to prevent the defense from making player changes, because there will not be enough time between plays.

That means opponents will be forced to play more basic defenses against Fresno State, giving the Bulldogs' offense more opportunities to succeed.

Fans can get their first and only look during an open scrimmage Saturday morning at Bulldog Stadium.
