Butterfly Sanctuary Opens in Madera
There was an open house Saturday in Maderawith a twist.
That's because the residents have beautiful wings.
Alexander Lehman and his wife Jackie, opened a Butterfly Sanctuary at their family owned business, Home Grown Cellars in Madera. The family specializes in pomegranate-based products.
But Lehman says this latest project, was a labor of love.
"I love the mystic part of butterflies," says Alexander Lehman, who spent 25 years as a teacher. "It's as if with butterflies, there's this idea of spreading kindness."
He says he got the idea after visiting butterfly houses in Massachusetts.
The sanctuary features hundreds of butterflies including Monarchs, Painted Ladies, Morning Cloaks, and Red Admirals can be seen.
The butterfly Sanctuary will be open Friday's 12:3-3:3, Saturday's 10:00 am-3:3, and Sunday's 12:3-3:3.
It's located at 13702 Road 20, Madera, CA 93637 (just south of Avenue 14).
