Bulldogs 1st Place Softball Team Led by Dynamic Brenna Moss
With six conference games left on the schedule, the Fresno State softball team is tied for first in the Mountain West and if you see the Bulldogs play, chances are, you'll remember one name above the rest... Brenna Moss."If they take their eye off me, I'm going... It's as simple as that," says Brenna.Fresno State softball coach, Trisha Ford, says Brenna always has the green light. In 2013, Moss set a school record for steals in a season, and was tied for first nationally with nine triples. The Bakersfield native has also led the team in hits each of her three years as a Bulldog and defensively made only one error in the last two seasons.Catcher Paige Gumz said, "Any ball hit in Brenna's general direction, I don't think it's trouble at all. It's going to be caught."Head coach Trisha Ford says number five is not just the fastest 'dog physically, but mentally too. "She is constantly thinking. I mean that kid thinks the game 24/7," said Ford.Moss will tell you it's being heady that keys her MVP play both offensively and in the outfield. "To be a great player, that's something that you really have to have in this game, is instinctive thinking," said Moss.Add to those natural instincts the desire to answer Coach Ford's challenge to be faster and stronger in 2014 and you've got something special.Moss said, "I feel like that's something I can say about myself, is I'm a hard worker... you know, this team is all about hard working and doing things for a purpose and we come out here and get our work done and it shows up in games."So with 13 months remaining in a Bulldog uniform, you better keep your eye on her.
