Bay Area Hunter Safe After 19 Days Lost In Wilderness

A 72-year-old Bay Area man is finally home after being lost in the wilderness for 19 days.Gene Penaflor and a buddy went hunting in the Mendocino National Forest on September 24th but the two split up to hunt deer.Penaflor slipped and fell and became disoriented when a fog rolled in.Crews looked for the missing hunter but called off the search after three days.Penaflor had just a few trash bags, a lighter and several bullets. He survived by eating algae, a snake, lizards and squirrels, and he built a shelter under a tree.A search group found him Saturday, three miles from where he disappeared.
