Bank ATM Gives FREE Money: $50-Bills Given Instead of $20-Bills
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) —
It is safe to say we could all use a little extra cash.
Now imagine going to your banks ATM, withdrawing money, and it gives you more than double the amount you asked for, that is what happened to Bank of America customers over the weekend.
Bank representatives say the branch located on Tulare near Cedar in southwest Fresno, gave away 50-dollar bills instead of 20-dollar bills, all day Saturday.
Customer Daniel Salas says, "I wish it was me that could have gotten that money. But I hope who ever got it, I hope they really need it."
So how much money did ATM customers withdrawal?
Bank of America representatives are not telling KMPH News and they will not share any of the video captured from the ATM machines.
Bank of America Media Relations, Colleen Haggerty did send KMPH News an email stating, "This was an isolated situation that occurred at our east Fresno banking center on Saturday. Once we were made aware of the issue, it was quickly rectified."
So how did it happen?
The bank's not saying but someone probably put the wrong bills in the wrong slot.
Now the question is would you give the extra money back?
Salas says, "It was the machine, it was their bank mistake, I don't think they should give the money back."
Bank of America customer Martin Arce says, "I think it's better to do the right thing because eventually karma is going to get back to you."
Bank of America representatives say they do plan to work with customers on an individual basis, to get their money back.
The bank says it has video and personal information on everybody who took money from that ATM over the weekend.
