Another Fire Injures Pets, Destroys Downtown Fresno Homeless Encampment

A homeless camp in southeast Fresno was torched on Aug. 7.

Several pets were burned Sunday after an intense fire destroyed a downtown Fresno homeless encampment.

The fire at was reported at California and Lotus avenues. Firefighters were able to put out the flames quickly.

No one was hurt, but several makeshift homeless shelters were destroyed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. This is the second time in less than a week that a homeless encampment has burned.

On Aug. 7, witnesses say an arsonist torched a homeless encampment in southwest Fresno.

Six families who lived in makeshift homes lost everything.

A dog was burned in that fire as well.
