A Little Sun Can Lower Your Blood Pressure

Do you ever notice a 'chill' relaxing feeling when you sit and relax in the sun for a moment?

That's your blood pressure going down because of the sun.

In a new British report - Journal of Investigative Dermatology - Nitric Oxide stored in the top layers of the skin reacts to sunlight which makes blood vessels widen.

That in turn can help lower blood pressure.

The researchers believe, if these findings are confirmed through more studies, exposure to ultraviolet light could one day be considered a way to lower the risk for heart disease.

They also say avoiding sunlight might be considered a new risk factor for heart disease.

The team is *not* suggesting people sunbathe or use tanning beds to lower blood pressure, but they do recommended spending some time outdoors.
