2 Cars Catch Fire After Accident on 180 Freeway

A three-car crash on Highway 180 in central Fresno left two vehicles burning and a huge plume of black smoke extending high into the sky Saturday.

California Highway Patrol officers say the crash happened at 5:30 p.m. when a traffic stoppage resulted in a car rear-ending an SUV and pushing it into another vehicle.

The drivers and passengers in the two vehicles that caught fire were able to get out before flames engulfed the cars. Those six people were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the third car was not injured and{}was able to move his car to the shoulder.

The fiery wreck blocked two lanes of traffic and CHP had to temporarily shut down all lanes of westbound traffic while the{}Fresno Fire Department put out the flames.
