10 Killed In Fiery Highway Crash In Northern California

Ten people were killed in a crash between a bus and a delivery truck in Northern California.Investigators say a FedEx delivery truck crossed a grassy median on Interstate 5 in Orland, west of Chico, hit a car and then crashed into the bus carrying high school students on a trip to Humboldt State University. The crash happened about 5:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon near Orland, a small city north of Sacramento. One of the survivors said more than 40 students on the bus were able to escape through a window that someone kicked open.Unfortunately, not all aboard the bus were able to get out in time.Five students, three adult chaperones, and both the bus and truck driver lost their lives.Investigators believe the driver of the truck was trying to avoid hitting a car involved in the crash.A section of I-5 about 100 miles north of Sacramento was closed.
